Here’s a bit more about each member of our team of nonprofit professionals. 

todd von deak

MBA, CAE
Todd is the President & Founder of TVD Associates. He has spent nearly 20 years in key roles at nonprofit organizations across multiple industries. From this experience, he has gained a diverse perspective on both the strategic and day-to-day challenges of growing membership, driving engagement, leveraging technology, securing funding, and managing growth for nonprofits and associations.

He and his wife Michele, along with their three kids live in the Philadelphia suburbs, and both earned their MBAs from Drexel University. For over ten years, Todd has been part of the faculty at Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business. He has served on several advisory boards at the college and also served on numerous national committees with the American Society of Association Executives and regionally with the Mid-Atlantic Society of Association Executives (MASAE) where he is a past president. Currently, Todd is also a member of the AMC Institute’s Community Engagement Committee along with the MASAE DEI Task Force and a proud coach of his son’s baseball team.

michele von deak

MBA
Michele is Principal at TVD Associates. In this position, she is intimately involved in every aspect of the firm’s relationship with clients. Before joining TVDA, she spent nearly two decades working for nonprofit organizations, developing programs and strategies, raising funds, strengthening relationships with key constituencies, and managing events. In the process, she has learned how to tackle the challenges nonprofits and associations face today and create customized opportunities for growth and improved efficiency.

Prior to coming aboard at TVDA, Michele worked as Senior Director of Development for Historic Philadelphia, Inc., where she created and deployed a comprehensive fundraising strategy, oversaw two successful capital redevelopment campaigns, increased corporate sponsorships and private/foundational contributions, and launched the organization’s first fundraising auction and dinner, “An Evening in Franklin Square.” Michele also spent time with the Foundation at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC, which enhanced her understanding of the healthcare field and offered her keen insight into the day-to-day efforts and fiscal responsibility necessary to be successful as the fundraising arm of a major medical center.

Currently, she belongs to the Pennsylvania Society and the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Michele is also proud to remain an active member of Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business Alumni Council after pursuing her MBA there.

 Tim Berry has a background in both operations and consulting, with specialties in logistics, operations, member engagement, and customer service. At TVDA, Tim supports general office operations while managing several special projects.

Tim has over fifteen years’ experience working in both operations and consulting, with specialties in logistics, operations, member engagement, and customer service. Tim has overseen and guided his clients in both events and conference management, supervising complex events of more than 100,000 attendees. Most notably, he has represented PaT, NAGGL, AERA, NAMM and Tianyu Arts and Culture Chinese Lantern Festivals.

In these roles, Tim has overseen day-to-day operations in areas including event technology, event registration, fiscal affairs and onsite management for events of all sizes including festivals of over 100,000 visitors.

Tim was raised in Orlando, FL and graduated from the Art Institute of Philadelphia with a B.S. in Interactive Media Design. You can usually find him enjoying summer days playing beer league softball and hanging out with his wife and puppy.

Maddy began her marketing career in the hospitality industry as a marketing coordinator and graphic designer for Philly bars and restaurants. After graduating from Drexel University with a Bachelor’s in Marketing and minors in Fine Art and Digital Media, Maddy worked full time as an events and promotions coordinator. As she gained experience, she realized she enjoyed taking on new challenges like running promotional operations on a casino floor to developing branding strategy for a ball-pit dance bar. These experiences in hospitality led her to understand the importance of building and fostering relationships as the key to successful marketing efforts. Now, Maddy is looking to take her current skill set and expand upon it by helping clients achieve their strategic marketing goals. She values a strong attention to detail, and strives to create high-quality experiences for both businesses and customers alike.

When Maddy is not working, she enjoys painting as well as training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai boxing.

lisa mccracken

Lisa McCracken focuses on Newsletter Communications and Product Marketing at TVD Associates. With a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, a Masters in Library and Information Science and a career in Web Development & Client Relations, she specializes in bringing seemingly unlikely things and people together into a functional, efficient whole. Lisa has worked on projects for small family businesses and large entities like Ricoh, U.S.A. and the F.D.A. In each case, Lisa has developed a passion for finding ways to make processes efficient, communication clear and pass on lessons learned.

Harold Maurer

Harold Maurer serves as Counsel to TVD Associates, Inc. In this role, Harold leverages decades of high-level experience in corporate marketing (Fortune 500 and smaller), client services (Marketing General, Inc., Publicis/Frankel, and more), and integrated marketing (IBM, 3M, Lexmark, among others). Harold regularly provides executive-level insights, recommendations, and strategic counsel on our client’s most significant issues.

With expertise in digital marketing, corporate branding, marketing automation, community development, and more, Harold dives into a host of areas, guiding efforts including membership, marketing, communications strategy, and brand and reputation management. Harold also provides internal counsel to TVDA’s owners on strategies for client services and the organization’s growth.
